The Chosen Vale International Percussion Seminar is a place where participants will be exposed to and given the opportunity to work and perform with visionary leaders in the field of percussion in addition to a peerless collection of composers. Percussionists at the Seminar are asked to work outside their own self-defined “comfort zone”, to take new risks, and to accept personal responsibility for their technical and musical growth. Selected participants will perform with faculty members in three formal concerts in the Mary Keene Chapel as well as present solo and ensemble performances throughout the region.
“Chosen Vale will provide an invaluable opportunity for learning and growth. Having an opportunity to spend time in this unique retreat will foster meaningful and focused music making and creativity.”
Faculty member Brian McWhorter and Beta Collide, from their debut release “Psst…”
Offering a unique and vital series of trumpeting/musical experiences, from the exploration of the natural trumpet, learning how to structure free improvisation, and first performances of important new compositions, the Chosen Vale International Trumpet Seminar is a place where participants are challenged to look beyond what he or she has already studied and grow in unexpected, musical ways. Participants are asked to work outside their own self-defined “comfort zone”, to take new risks, and to accept personal responsibility for their technical and musical growth. Selected participants will perform with faculty members in three formal concerts in the Mary Keene Chapel as well as present solo and mixed trumpet ensemble music throughout the region.
“It is absolutely imperative that we find ways to reconcile professional standards with creative, independent thinking”
