Concert Dress

Concert dress is changing throughout the world and can be considered a means of individual expression. Please dress in a way that you feel is appropriate for a concert setting.

Appropriate Seminar Attire

Dress is casual at all other seminar events, although you may choose to dress more formally when performing in masterclass. The climate of Enfield, New Hampshire will experience wild swings in temperature between late June and early August. Evenings in the chapel and stone mill might be cool, so bring a sweater or windbreaker. Bring a bathing suit (the Center for Advanced Musical Studies enjoys a beach on Lake Mascoma), hiking shoes (there are wonderful walks available on the property and regionally), both long and short sleeved shirts, shorts, and any other sort of casual wear.

Linens

Everything, including a towel, is provided.

Housing (see location)

Participants and faculty live in the Great Stone Dwelling (1841), now the centerpiece of the Enfield Shaker Museum. Participants will enjoy modern necessities such as wireless internet access while living in accommodations that feature Shaker reproduction furniture and enjoying a kitchen that is definitely non-institutional. Meals are a time of good eating, interaction with the faculty, and are a focal point of communication throughout the seminar.

The daily schedule, changes, and messages for participants will be posted on the message board at the Great Stone Dwelling.

Private baths and telephones can be found in each room. Individuals are responsible for any calls they make. It’s a good idea to bring a phone card if you don’t have your own cell service.
